Teen & Adult Martial Arts Classes in Markham
You don’t have to be a kid to join Superkids Karate
Our martial arts for teens and adults program at 50 McIntosh Drive in Markham is where the full journey comes together. All the techniques and skills built in the earlier years are now expanded with deeper kickboxing and boxing training, rounding out a truly complete martial arts education.
Whether you’re a long-time student stepping into this program or a complete beginner picking up martial arts for the first time as a teen or adult, you’re welcome here. Our martial arts classes in Markham proudly serve Markham, Richmond Hill, Unionville, Stouffville, and York Region since 1989.
Where the Full Martial Arts Picture Comes Together
This program builds directly on the martial arts basics and foundation developed in the 8–13 age group and takes it further.
At the teen and adult level, the emphasis deepens into:
• Traditional Forms and Technique — refining the karate foundation with greater precision and depth
• Kickboxing — sharper combinations, timing, distance management, and defensive technique
• Boxing — footwork, head movement, power punching, and real sparring fundamentals
• Mixed Martial Arts — bringing all disciplines together into fluid, practical application
Students at this level aren’t just learning techniques — they’re developing a deep understanding of how all the martial arts disciplines connect and work together.
Weapons Training
With higher level belts, we start teaching them how to use weapons. Sensei Kwong has learned how to use many of the traditional martial arts weapons but decided to teach two weapons: Bo Staff and Kali Sticks. He believed these two were the most practical as they can be substituted by regular everyday items. A Bo staff could be substituted by items such as a broom stick or umbrella. Kali stick movements and patterns can be substituted with items like pens or knives.
A Different Kind of Martial Arts Gym in Markham
If you’ve ever walked into a boxing or MMA gym and felt the attitude, the intimidation, or the testosterone-heavy atmosphere, this is not that.
At Superkids Karate, teens, adults, men, and women train together in an environment that is focused, respectful, and welcoming. The goal is great technique, real knowledge, and genuine skill. It really is one of the best kept secrets for martial arts in Markham.

World Class Training Lineage
Sensei Kwong Yong is the highest-ranking student of Sensei Wally Slocki — the Father of Canadian Kickboxing. That lineage is at the heart of everything taught in this program. When you train here, you’re connected to a martial arts tradition that goes back decades and reaches the very top of Canadian kickboxing history.

Markham’s Most Trusted Martial Arts School — Since 1989
For 37 years, Superkids Karate has stood at 50 McIntosh Drive in Markham, making us one of the longest-running martial arts schools in the area, possibly the longest. Since 1989, that history has shaped us into Markham’s most established martial arts school, with families travelling to us from Markham, Richmond Hill, Unionville, Stouffville, and all across York Region for martial arts for teens and adults.
What sets Superkids Karate Markham apart is simple: we feel like family, and you’ll sense that the moment you step onto the mat. There are no strangers here, just students we know by name and watch grow. It’s not unusual to see a former student’s own child training in our dojo today. That continuity is the real Superkids Karate legacy.
