EMILY P.

13-year-old student, continues to impress us. whether she likes the attention or not.

Emily began karate thanks to a push from her dad, and if you ask her today, she might still say it’s not exactly her favourite activity. But here’s the funny part, despite claiming she doesn’t like it, Emily shows up, works hard, and performs at a high level, while doing 3 classes per week! And every now and then, if you’re paying close attention, you might even catch her smiling and laughing with her friends (don’t worry Emily, we won’t make a big deal out of it).

What keeps Emily coming back is the people. She enjoys training alongside her friends like Catherine, Emily, Jessie, making each class more fun.

Outside the dojo, Emily stays active and tries new things. She used to take weekly ice-skating lessons starting at age 7 and now skates just for fun—though she once earned a gold medal in competition, which is an incredible accomplishment. She’s attended tennis camp for the past three years, plans to join a volleyball camp this summer, and is even thinking about trying badminton next.

When she’s not training or staying active, Emily enjoys spending time with friends and family—especially watching movies, playing board games, and hanging out with her twin siblings. She also has a creative side and loves baking, making everything from cookies to delicious liege waffles.

Emily is currently in Grade 7 at Little Rouge Public School. While she’s still figuring out what she wants to do in the future, one thing is clear… she will succeed in whatever she chooses.

Even if she won’t admit it, Emily continues to grow stronger, more confident, and more skilled every time she steps onto the floor. And whether she likes it or not… we’re very proud of her.

MOTHER’S DAY APPRECIATION

As Mother’s Day approaches, we want to take a moment to recognize and celebrate all of the incredible moms in our Superkids community.

Mother’s Day has a long and meaningful history. The holiday began in the early 1900s, when Anna Jarvis in the United States wanted to honor her mother’s dedication and sacrifices. She worked to establish a day that would recognize all mothers for their unconditional love and support. By 1914, Mother’s Day became an official holiday, and today it is celebrated around the world as a way to show appreciation for everything moms do.

Behind every student is a strong support system, and so often, it’s mom who is making it all happen. After a long day at work, you drive the kids to classes, cheer them on from the sidelines, and encourage them through challenges. Your dedication, and support do not go unnoticed.

On behalf of all of us at Superkids Karate, thank you for everything you do.

Wishing all the amazing moms a very Happy Mother’s Day! 💐
