NATHAN L.
Has been asking to try karate since he was just 3, and when he finally started at age 7. For the first year, motivating him was difficult as he was only able to train once a week, meaning his progress was slow. Once Nathan’s mom convinced him to start training 2 times a week, he began to see improvements which led him to gain confidence and his progress sky rocketed. Today, karate is something Nathan truly enjoys, especially katas, where his quiet focus and attention to detail really shine. Nathan is living proof of the importance of consistency and hard work.
Nathan brings that same energy into everything he does. At school, he’s known not only for his creativity but also for his leadership, having proudly served as a class representative for two years in his school’s student parliament. He’s an avid reader with a bookshelf full of favourites like Wings of Fire, Harry Potter, and Warriors, and he loves writing long, imaginative stories of his own. When he’s not reading or writing, you’ll likely find him building elaborate LEGO creations, exploring Minecraft worlds, or heading outside in the winter to carve out snow caves.
Outside the dojo and classroom, Nathan keeps busy with a wide range of activities. He takes piano lessons, attends art class, swims, skis, and has recently started learning the guitar. His dedication has also paid off in competition, earning him two silver medals and one bronze in karate tournaments. At home, he shares his space with two guinea pigs, Mocha and Marshmallow.
Nathan is currently in Grade 5 at Ashton Meadows and he hopes to become an engineer one day. With his creativity, and growing confidence both in and out of the dojo, Nathan is a wonderful example of what it means to be a SUPER-kid.
